Rhamnolipids-based Personal Care Products

AGAE developed the world’s first natural surfactant, rhamnolipids-based personal care product line between 2015 to 2017 under the brand name MayLū. The product line includes Natural Face Wash, Natural Body Wash, Natural Hand Soap and Natural Light-foaming Hand Soap products. They were first sold at the Corvallis, Oregon Farmers’ Market in the summer of 2017 and then later carried by the First Alternative Co-op. MayLū’s Natural Face Wash, Natural Body Wash, Natural Hand Soap and Natural Light-foaming Hand Soap also saw success at the 2018 Oregon State Fair. Beginning in early 2019, AGAE decided to pause the sales of its personal care products in order to focus resources on the continuous development of its comprehensive technologies for mass production of the key ingredient rhamnolipids (RL*).

Due to AGAE’s multiple technology breakthroughs enabling the production of rhamnolipids at scale, AGAE proudly announces the relaunch of direct-to-consumer sales of its rhamnolipids-based personal care products in 2024. AGAE will also be open to wholesale or private label opportunities for these rhamnolipids-formulated personal care products.

In order to encourage all AGAE’s customers to freely use human safe and environmentally friendly rhamnolipids as natural green biosurfactant ingredients in their own formulas, AGAE had discontinued all patent applications for its rhamnolipids-based formulas. AGAE is pleased to disclose below to the public the full ingredients used in AGAE’s face wash as the exemplary formulas. 

Face Wash Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Maltodextrin, Xanthan Gum, Rhamnolipids (RL*), Arrowroot Powder, Squalane, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Potassium Bicarbonate, Essential Oils (two or more combination of Lavender, Lemon Grass, Tea Tree, Lemon, Orange, and Rosemary), and Vitamin E (tocopherols).
